Amey National Highways Area 7 motorway network supported by Pioneer FM soft services mobilisation

Rapid Mobilisation for Amey National Highways Area 7

“Pioneer FM successfully mobilised the Area 7 National Highways soft services contract within 48 hours following the collapse of the previous supplier.”

Pioneer FM & Amey

When Amey required an immediate soft services solution across the Area 7 National Highways contract, Pioneer FM stepped in to deliver continuity, stability, and support during an exceptionally challenging period.

Originally scheduled to mobilise in February 2025, the contract accelerated unexpectedly when the incumbent supplier ceased trading in January, leaving operational uncertainty across multiple sites and, most importantly, frontline cleaning teams unpaid for work completed over the Christmas period.

Within less than 48 hours, Pioneer FM successfully mobilised the multi-site contract on 14th January 2025, ensuring there was no disruption to critical services across the estate.

Supporting People First

From the outset, Pioneer FM focused on protecting both service continuity and the wellbeing of the workforce affected by the supplier collapse.

Understanding the financial pressure many operatives were facing after not receiving their wages, Pioneer FM took the decision to onboard the affected employees immediately and pay the money they were owed for the Christmas period on the day. This ensured staff were financially supported and able to continue working without further uncertainty.

This rapid response demonstrated Pioneer FM’s commitment to doing the right thing, not just operationally, but ethically.

“Pioneer FM have proven themselves to be a reliable, values-driven partner, and I would highly recommend them.

I can confidently say that our experience working with Pioneer FM has been exceptional. During a particularly challenging transition, when our previous supplier refused to pay their staff, Pioneer FM stepped in and went above and beyond.”

Robert, Facilities Amey Area 7, also endorsed Pioneer FM’s approach, stating he “wholeheartedly agree[d]” with the recommendation.

Rapid Mobilisation Across Multiple Sites

Despite the accelerated timescales, Pioneer FM successfully delivered:

  • Full TUPE onboarding support
  • Emergency staffing and operational planning
  • Site mobilisation across multiple National Highways locations
  • Immediate service continuity
  • Health & safety and compliance integration
  • Management support for transitioning teams
  • Sustainable cleaning implementation planning

The mobilisation was delivered collaboratively between Pioneer FM and the Amey management team, ensuring a smooth operational transition during an otherwise highly disruptive situation.

Sustainability & Engagement at the Amey Stand Down Day

Following mobilisation, Pioneer FM also supported Amey during their team Stand Down Day, where Pioneer FM representatives met with operational teams to explain:

  • Who Pioneer FM are
  • The company’s values and culture
  • The importance of sustainable facilities management
  • How innovation and responsible cleaning practices support clients and the environment

We support defence, government, and high-security sites as part of our sustainable facilities management services across the UK.

The event created an opportunity to engage directly with employees and reinforce the importance of people, partnerships, and sustainability within FM operations.

To encourage engagement on the day, Pioneer FM ran a competition where participants had the opportunity to win £100 for themselves and £100 for their cleaner, helping recognise the contribution frontline teams make every day.

Pioneer FM also supported Cancer Research UK during the event as part of its ongoing commitment to social value and community impact.

Delivering More Than Cleaning

The Area 7 mobilisation demonstrated Pioneer FM’s ability to respond rapidly under pressure while maintaining a people-first approach.

By combining operational agility with ethical leadership and sustainability-focused service delivery, Pioneer FM transformed a potentially disruptive situation into a successful long-term partnership.

Today, Pioneer FM continues to support Amey across Area 7 with reliable, responsive, and sustainable soft services solutions.

Pioneer FM has extensive experience mobilising complex multi-site contracts at short notice, including nationally significant projects such as the Brexit lorry park operations delivered during COVID-19. These projects required rapid mobilisation, workforce coordination, operational resilience, and service continuity under intense public and media scrutiny.
